In order to assist with creating common page structures throughout the wiki, this wiki has a heavily modified version of the Uniwiki Layouts extension installed. For information on using layouts, please see Help:Layouts. Before users can create pages using layouts, one or more layouts must be created.

Creating Layouts

Any page created in the 'Layout' namespace becomes available to editors when creating new pages, and layout pages may contain any wiki markup, including template calls. The raw content will be copied 'as is' directly into the edit box when the user creates a page, so you may want to include instructions or notes in the page either directly or as <!-- html comments -->

Layouts and namespaces

By default, pages created in the 'Layout' namespace will only be visible when creating pages within the Main namespace and course namespaces. It is possible to make layouts visible in other namespaces (with the exception of Talk pages - layouts can never be used when creating talk pages) by including a @namespace directive within the template, for example:

 @namespace Main User Foo
